ball & chain, season of lurve

Aaron and I are headed to the Great State of Michigan, land of automobiles, Motown, Slim Shady and Madonna.

We will be witnessing the marriage of Brienne and Matt. A lovely couple who have been a wonderful part of our lives. They are raising 3 adorable children whom aaron and I just gobble up whenever given the chance. We were told of this union 6 months ago and were a bit surprised. After 8 years one would think common law would take over and you could spare the wedding expense, but Brienne and Matt felt this was not only important for them but also for their children. I applaud them and will make every effort to throw rice at them, the long grain variety, would hate for that small stuff to get stuck in their eyes.

I was thinking bout that nursery rhyme we are taught when we are younger.

First comes love, then comes marriage, then some gurl pushing a baby carriage

subtle brainwash technique me thinks. What's the Gay version to this?

First comes personal ad, then comes disco, then a lifetime of brunches and dinner parties.

Yeah, that sounds bout right.

A friend of my handed me an article bout a couple who are not revealing the gender of their newborn, not even to the grandparents. They figure society makes so many decisions/judgments for babies whether a boy or girl  that they wanted their child to have a chance to make those decisions themselves.... Pink shirt or blue shirt, lit'l miss dolly or Tonka Truck, sugar & spice, every thing nice? It makes sense, letting a child develop naturally, encouraging them towards a secure self image. Ill be curious how long they will be able to contain this secret, 1 or 2 years maybe, I'm sure once the potty gets a prominent place in daily discussion will be the moment the cat is out of the bag or we discover if Free Willy is in fact free.

Yes, I think that could become the chorus for a new gay anthem!
